Terms of Service

Nature of Psychological Services:

I will generally allocate the first two sessions for assessment. This is a time for me to get a better understanding of you, what you’re struggling with, and the context that your struggles have emerged within. It is also a time for you to discuss what you would like to gain out of therapy and determine whether I am the right psychologist for you. As part of this assessment process, I may ask you to complete a questionnaire/s relevant to your presenting difficulties. Results of questionnaires and their changes over time will be shared with you and can be discussed in session.

Following initial assessment, together we will decide the best path forward. The treatment may draw upon various approaches including psychodynamic, attachment-informed, cognitive-behavioural, dialectical behavioural, and mentalisation-based treatment approaches. There may be times, where in the interests of best practice, I may suggest a referral to a Clinical Psychologist who may be more appropriate for assisting you.

Disclosure of Personal Information:

As part of providing psychological services to you, I need to collect and record personal information from you that is relevant to your situation, such as your name, contact information, and medical and personal history. Your information is securely stored and only I have access to this information. Personal information gathered as part of providing a psychological service will remain confidential except when:

  • it is subpoenaed by a court;

  • failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at serious risk to life, health, or safety;

  • your prior approval has been obtained to:

    • provide a written report to another professional or agency (e.g. a General Practitioner or Dietitian);

    • discuss the material with another person (e.g. a family member);

    • disclose the information in another way.

  • you would reasonably expect your personal information to be disclosed to another professional or agency (e.g. your referring General Practitioner in order to fulfil reporting requirements associated with a Mental Health Treatment Plan).

  • disclosure is otherwise required by law including when details may be shared with professional or legal advisors where necessary for the conduct of the business or your psychologist (e.g. mandatory reporting of sexual offences against children).

I am required by the Psychology Board of Australia to undertake clinical supervision to maintain my registration as a psychologist and as part of the Clinical Psychologist registrar program. If I discuss your case in supervision, your information will be de-identified and also kept confidential by the supervisor.

Fees and Attendance

My fee is $240 for a 50-minute consultation. Payment is deducted from your stored credit card after your session. You may be able to claim a portion of sessions through Medicare or your private health insurance.

I offer sessions on a weekly or fortnightly basis initially and will offer you a regular specified appointment time (same day and time) that is reserved specifically for you for the duration of your treatment.

Bulk billed appointments are only available for a limited number of booking spaces and only for individuals with a Health Care Card and Mental Health Care Plan. For this reason, you must receive confirmation in advance that you have been booked in an available bulk billed space and provide a your Health Care Card details and Mental Health Care Plan.

Cancellation Policy

I require at least 48 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel a session without incurring a cancellation fee of $50. This policy is in place to allow us to offer the allocated time to another client who may be on the cancellation or waiting list. Cancellation charges will be automatically deducted from the credit card that you have authorised on file on the day of your scheduled appointment. Please note that Medicare rebates are not accessible for cancelled or missed sessions.

For added convenience, I provide the following:

  • Online appointments via Zoom or telephone if you are unable to make it into the therapy rooms (e.g. due to illness or travel).

  • You may request to move your appointment around within the same calendar week. If we are unable to find a mutually suitable time, you will be charged the cancellation fee as stated above.

  • For clients who hold a regular appointment time slot, you will not lose your ongoing appointment time due to missed or cancelled sessions.

Cancellation fees do not apply if you are in hospital for any reason. I understand that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this happens to you, please contact reception as soon as possible to discuss your situation.

Out-of-Hours and Between Session Support
